Regional Chapters

To have better coordination and control among the 8 departments and also among the Water Users Associations, the CEC works under four Regional Chapters, namely, Madurai, Coimbatore, Chennai and Trichy. The model villages come under these regional chapters which are headed by a Chief Engineer- WRD. All the 8 departments have equal role in the Districts. At the District level, a District Chapter functions with Officers from all the 8 departments. 8-16 villages come under the District chapter. To have better understanding and coordination, 2 villages are captained and adopted by one officer from one of the 8 Departments. He is called the village captain and takes care of all the needs of the farmers irrespective of the department he is in. He helps to co ordinate with officers from other departments and redresses the villager’s grievances by organizing meetings and facilitating the convergence activities.
